Global sea levels could rise by as much as two metres by the end of this century if the world’s carbon emissions continue unchecked.
But researchers say there is still time to act.
Our planet’s ice sheets are enormous - Greenland in the north, Antarctica in the south - around 10 million square kilometres in size. Al Jazeera's Science and Technology Editor Mereana Hond reports.
