How Hepatitis Made Me Happier: Toshka Ivanova at TEDxMladostWomen 2012 |
|
Toshka Ivanova is a blogger, copywriter and one of the hundreds people in Bulgaria living with HCV (hepatitis C virus). She is the author of the book "Positive", based on the anonymous blog "Some thoughts of an infected person". The book tells her personal story about the disease -- how it affects your life; what would you do to accept the illness and to fight with it; how it changes your life. Toshka is part of patients' organization "HepActive" that aims to change the perception of this problem and to give information and support. She believes that one of the most important problems concerning chronic hepatitis in Bulgaria is the prejudices against the disease and the ones living with it.
Toshka spoke at TEDxMladostWomen on December 1st, 2012 in Sofia, Bulgaria. The event was organized around TEDxWomen 2012. In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations) |
