The leg press is a popular piece of gym equipment that can help build key muscles in your legs. There are two types of leg press machines commonly found in gyms: the standard horizontal leg press and the 45-degree leg press that has a seat that reclines at an angle while your legs press upward in a diagonal direction

The quadriceps (quads), hamstrings and gluteus maximus (glutes) are specifically targeted, while the hip and torso muscles are incorporated for stabilization and to assist the primary muscles.

How To Use:
Your torso and the legs should make a perfect 90-degree angle. This will be your starting position. As you inhale, slowly lower the platform until your upper and lower legs make a 90-degree angle. Pushing mainly with the heels of your feet and using the quadriceps go back to the starting position as you exhale.

The leg press involves pushing the platform up and out, holding it for a second or two, and then slowly lowering it back down. This exercise is a good way to evaluate overall lower body strength and capabilities, as well as to strengthen various muscles in the leg, plus a whole lot more too.
