Wellington Brooklyn wind turbine was installed in March 1993 by NZ Electricity Corporation. In winds of between 50km/hour and 80km/hour, the turbine would generate up to 225kW of electricity.

There are 3 routes you can use to go to this amazing destination.
1. Take the bus 7 or 17 from Wellington and get off from Ohiro Rd. Walk to the wind turbine which is around 2kms.
2. Travel down the Transient, Sawmill, Fenceline, and Windmill trails beginning at the Polhill Reserve entrance at the top of Aro Street.
3. Rent or Drive your own vehicle to the wind turbine. (You will miss most of the sceneries if you travel by a vehicle)

Along the route you will see Brooklyn War Memorial & Brooklyn Army Bunkers.
This is an amazing walk if you love short walks or love nature & photography.
