Equipping the Next Generation of Leadership & Preparing the Future Workforce by Placing Lifelong Learning at the Centre of The School of Tomorrow:
At TEDxSquare Mile, Seren reflects on the emerging story of her generation, the so-called Millennial Generation. She draws from the insights of her global field work and pioneering Ph.D. research on Millennial leadership worldwide whereby she generated data in 117 countries at the University of Notre Dame Australia, Utrecht University and Varna University of Management with the support of the eminent Professor Geert Hofstede and various stakeholders. She explores whether young people are the carriers of the characteristics of a new leadership paradigm that is responsive to tackling our pressing societal challenges. In this way, she explores whether lifelong learning can be placed at the centre of the 'School of Tomorrow' and reflects on redefining the role of education in the 21st century. When it comes to exploring a new paradigm within corporations and organisations in the age of digitization, her talk focuses on preparing and engaging the (future) workforce by shifting the current debate on Millennials, from retention and recruitment to resilience. She believes this is key for stakeholders in order to equip the next generation of leaders, young professionals, future decision-makers and change agents as collaborators and architects in the future prospects of our world. Dr. Seren Dalkiran is a lifelong learner and (leadership) educator at heart who bridges theory with practice, and science with society. She is the co-founder and initiator of the Synergized Earth Network (SEN) & Millennial Motion: The Next Generation of Leadership (Millennial Leadership Lab, MLL), both of which are complementary platforms that unite leaders across generations, disciplines and sectors to tackle pressing global challenges. Seren won numerous (inter)national awards for her leadership, academic and societal undertakings over the years. She believes that value-based leadership and intergenerational collaboration that she calls 'mutual mentorship on equal grounds' are key to 'co-creating conducive environments for lifelong learning'. In such spaces individuals can discover their purpose, fulfill their human potential and synergize their capacities for a more peaceful, just and sustainable world.
