One of the most powerful military figures of the 19th century was Napoleon who would rise to prominence and become the Emperor of France. His army were greatly feared and many countries were defeated by him, and he led France to become the greatest European superpower of the time. Millions ended up living under French occupation, but he was defeated by the British at the Battle of Waterloo. Following this Napoleon was captured and he was then sent to exile.

He was held under house arrest on St Helena, and island 5000 miles away from Europe. Because of this he was then imprisoned in a damp and dark house and this was said to have been not fit for his imprisonment. Inside of this house at the age of 51 Napoelon died, and there have been a number of theories regarding his death.
