The Complete Musashi is my favourite translation and contains a lot of extra background detail. This is my original recording reuploaded. The Book of Five Rings (五輪書, Go Rin no Sho) is a text on kenjutsu and the martial arts in general, written by the Japanese swordsman Miyamoto Musashi around 1645. One may question the relevance of a book about swordsmanship in modern life, but at its core this book is about mastery, its principles are timeless. Many parts are echoed in other non-combat focussed works from around the world, and as we’ll many see were far ahead of their time. I have made an in depth summary of the book here: https://youtu.be/gI-SDFuuuRk That said, Musashi himself mentions his words are only principles, and only through training will you come to understand them. In listening I suggest placing your focus on its core messages of mastery over yourself, directness of intention and of seizing the initiative and not being passive.
