August 2016 saw the coming together of the Grasmere History Group to share untold stories of Grasmere during the Second World War. Grasmere residents Tom and Margaret Holden live on the site of a hutted camp, a base for soldiers who used the lakes and fells for training purposes. Joy Magennis was born in the village, and in this film you can hear her first-hand account of what it was like to grow up in wartime Grasmere.
