An Overview of the Legacy Scholar Program, A Data & People Resource for Students and Faculty |
|
Tom Meuser, Ph.D.
Professor and Director, Center for Excellence in Aging and Health, University of New England. Dr. Meuser's presentation will feature a new resource to support applied human subject research at UNE. The Legacy Scholars Program (LSP) is a research registry, a general longitudinal study of factors associated with health and well-being, and a lifelong learning and service club-all in one. Adults, 55+ years, volunteer as Scholars, complete an annual survey, and support research at UNE. Data from the annual survey is intended to support research training through exploratory analyses. The LSP is a signature program of the Center for Excellence in Aging & Health (CEAH), now in its second year at UNE. The CEAH is developing additional data resources through the Maine Syracuse Longitudinal Study (MSLS), Housed at UMaine, and the Rockland Adult Longitudinal Study through the Nathan Kline Institute in NY. Dr. Meuser will review these resources and see feedback on draft plans to offer access to students and faculty in UNE COM starting in the Spring, 2020, term.
