NOTE FROM TED: This talk only reflects the speaker's personal beliefs. TEDx events are independently organized by volunteers. The guidelines we give TEDx organizers are described in more detail here: http://storage.ted.com/tedx/manuals/tedx_content_guidelines.pdf

Boone's past spans from New Hampshire to Honduras to Mexico city to Haiti. At each location, Boone encounters different people and reflects on how he learned to think and work through difficulties. Not only does he speak about humanity, but he ties his talk together with a powerful song encouraging the audience to take action and help one another. Mr. Boone is a social worker with a positive HIV diagnosis who teaches as an adjunct professor at TWU and works at FW Aids Outreach center. For a long time, there has been a taboo against people with HIV that caused the general population to hold negative attitudes and beliefs towards them. Not only this, but the prejudice that people hold cause them to distance themselves from those with HIV. HIV + individuals are having to deal with this prejudice along with coming to terms with and managing the lifelong disease. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
