Electric Car Propulsion: Integration of an IPM and a SynRM for Improved Performance
L. Montórfano and M. Sovrano National Technological University – Paraná Regional Faculty Electromechanical Engineering Department 2021 Abstract The problem addressed in this paper is the emissions from combustion cars and climate change. To this end, different types of electric motors and the performances that they have when they are applied in cars is analyzed. This paper is mainly focused on presenting an environmentally friendly option in car propulsion: replacing combustion motors with electric motors in cars which can present improved performance. To achieve this aim, firstly different types of electric motors will be described. After the different motors and their advantages and disadvantages are presented, the discussion will move to the description of the combination of a Synchronous Reluctance Motor (SynRM) and Interior Permanent Magnet (IPM) as an alternative towards a reduction in emissions from the car industry sector. Index Terms— SynRM, VFD, Electric motors |
