The AssaultBike Pro X is the latest addition to Assault Fitness’s lineup of popular air bikes. This is the first air bike from the brand with a belt drive system, so it’s a little quieter than other AssaultBikes on the market. The Pro X also replaces the AssaultBike Pro, which was the former midrange model.

As far as quality and stability, the Pro X feels very similar to the high-end AssaultBike Elite. This air bike is designed for home and commercial use. It’s fairly easy to move with two front wheels for transporting when you need to. It weighs 125 lbs, so it’s definitely beefy and we didn’t experience any rocking even while cranking on the handles. It also handles most users up to 330 lbs.

The 27” fan has 6 steel fan blades that move when you start pedaling. Once you pedal, the handles move too, and the air gets sucked into the fan vents to create resistance. Air bikes, like this one, provide an unlimited amount of resistance to work against so the Pro X is great for high-intensity training.

The belt drive is what connects the pedals to the fan. Belts are known to be quieter, smoother, and much less maintenance than chain drive systems. I personally prefer belts. Chains require some tightening and lubricating over time and they can create a grinding sound and gritty feeling to each stroke. It is up to your personal preference of what drive system you prefer. Keep in mind that all air bikes generate some noise, but the Pro X is one of the quieter options.

The seat is comfortable but I wish it went lower for shorter folks. If you’re under 5’0”, you might find the seat to be a little too high for you. The handles are slim and there a foot pegs for targeted upper-body training.

The console is also simple and battery-powered so you don’t need to plug in the AssaultBike Pro X to use it. The console also includes some custom workout settings.

All in all, we’re happy to see Assault add a belt-drive air bike to their lineup, ad the Pro X is a worthy contender for homes and commercial gyms.
