Leading Manchester United out in next week's Europa League final will be "a proud moment" according to their manager and former striker Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Solskjaer wrote his name in United folklore when he scored the winning goal in their Champions League win over Bayern Munich in 1999.

He will lead his team against Spanish side Villarreal in Gdansk on 26th May with United looking to win the trophy for the second time after they beat Ajax in the 2017 final.

"Well Manchester United have meant a lot to me throughout my life as well and of course to be able to lead the team out is going to be a proud moment for me. It's going to be great to see the players that we've worked together now for two and a half years, that we've taken a step into a final after the near-misses we've had. To get to a final is one thing, when you get to a final, you need to win it, or you want to win it. You don't get a prize for attending so we're all focused and can't wait to see the players walk out on to that pitch."
