Oeschinensee is an icy blue alpine lake situated in central Switzerland, making it a convenient day trip from most cities and towns like Zurich, Bern, Interlaken, Lucerne etc.

I was truly smitten when I first saw pictures of Oeschinensee and being there in person only made me fall in love with this place a lot more. Beautiful place to hike or even just have a picnic and chill by the lake. Do not miss the Rodelbahn (alpine roller coaster) while you are there, it is so much fun for both kids and adults alike.

Getting there by public transport - Zurich HB to Spiez to Kandersteg is a 2 hour train journey. Followed by an approx. 15 min. walk to the cable car station (follow the signs that read Oeschinensee, after you arrive at Kandersteg train station). Followed by a 10 min. cable car ride.

Reaching the lake itself is a very enjoyable walk with very beautiful views.
