Queen Mary I of England, also known as Mary Tudor, was a queen driven by conscience and by faith. The first child of Henry VIII, she was the first woman to rule the country in her own right. But over her short five year reign, she gained a reputation as a ruthless and divisive monarch. She would send hundreds of her subjects to burn at the stake for what she believed was right.
