No sooner had Buckingham Palace released a portrait of King Charles, Prince William, Kate Middleton and Queen Consort Camilla - what’s been dubbed as the ‘new Fab Four’ - than a rival portrait from Prince Harry and Meghan Markle emerged from California. Harry and Meghan released an image of the two of them from an event they attended in the UK just before the Queen's death. The timing, says the Daily Mail’s Royal Editor Rebecca English was ‘puzzling’. The Daily Mail’s consultant editor Andrew Pierce believes it was down to a bad case of ‘me, me, me!’ with the couple not wanting the public to forget them: ‘I actually thought the timing was pitiful.’
