Reason Why Green Cardamom Is So Expensive:
Cardamom is one of the world’s very ancient spice, from its earliest usage about 4000 years ago. It is native to the east originating in the forest of the western ghats in Southern India, where its grows wild. The plant grows in such abundance in this region that this area became know as Cardamom Hills.

Today it also grows in Guatemala, Indonesia, SriLanka, Nepal, Bhutan, Singapore, Tanzania, Netherland and many other countries.
Guatemala and Indonesia are the top exporters of the world.

Cardamom is a Spice in the ginger family called Zingiberaceae recognizable by its trigonal pod husks containing small black seeds. Leafy Shoots of the cardamom plant arise 1.5 to 6 metres tall.

Cardamom is called the “Queen of Spices”, because of its aroma, flavor and medicinal values. With its varied uses and dominance in global spice trade, Cardamom is one of the most expensive spice in the world after Saffron and vanilla.
