Mr. Young wrote this song for the group Lynyrd Skynyrd and it, obviously, refers to an incident, imagined, of the U.S. civil war. I first heard the song on Neil's album "Rust Never Sleeps" in 1979 or 80 and liked it. :-) The word "Powderfinger" may be of Southern origin and might refer to a trigger-happy kid, maybe. Ron |
