Mbali Makhathini discusses reframing how we look at climate change and the role that we play in biodiversity and the 6th mass extinction. Also looking at how we can better manage our environment in order to achieve sustainability for future generations. Mbali Makhathini is a Bachelor of Environmental Science (UKZN), Programme for Management Development Programme (GIBS) and Post Graduate Diploma in Sustainable Business (University of Cambridge) graduate with extensive environmental, social and governance experience in the finance sector. She is a certified natural scientist by the South African Council for Natural Scientific Professionals (SACNASP). Currently serving as Head of ESG at Standard Bank, Melville Douglas, she is responsible for developing an ESG integration strategy guiding investment decision making ensuring responsible and impact investing. She is an advocate for the conservation of biodiversity and impact investing. Mbali has held various leadership positions most recently her role as an elected steering committee member and Middle East and Africa representative of the Equator Principles Association and as the Deputy Chair of the Standard Bank Investments, Diversity and Inclusion Forum.
