WHICH SOCIAL MEDIA SHOULD YOUR BAND FOCUS ON? - NORTHAMPTON MUSIC INDUSTRY WORKSHOP #121

video thumbnail
What I love about social media is there isn't a one size fits all strategy because musicians and bands have different strengths and time frames. Also what is hot in social media as this goes live might not be next week. Snapchat just went public and that might mean they could go down the pan next week for being uncool or might release their next version of the snapchat spectacles and be on top of the world.

Right now Facebook, Youtube and Instagram are huge for creatives for different reasons and I personally think that Youtube is a massively under-used platform for musicians and bands as it is the second biggest search engine in the world and THE biggest search engine for entertainment.

Think carefully when adding something to Youtube... If you are going to use it as a library then make sure you add in everything you need for your content to be found. If you are adding your first drum cover then think about how you can compete as 'drum cover' as a tag is too vague! 'drum cover Northampton' or drummer Northampton' might just get you some traction!

If you have read this... do something now... instagram me... its my new email... do it now.. what have you got to lose?
