Kendrick Nunn Career High 36 Points Full Highlights (12/10/2019)

Kendrick Nunn's career-high scoring performance might end up being overshadowed a bit by the simultaneous career-highs set by his teammates Bam Adebayo and Duncan Robinson. This is because most of Nunn's scoring came in the "Heat are somehow losing to the frickin' HAWKS" part of the game, while a bunch of Adebayo's and Robinson's scoring came in the "Heat are going on like a 20-0 run in the fourth quarter and overtime to win it" part of the game. The Heat comeback was exciting and, dare I say, epic (please shoot me if I ever use that cursed word again), and Nunn had very little to do with it.

But here's the deal: if Nunn hadn't scored his 36 points, Robinson and Adebayo (and Jimmy Butler) wouldn't have even had a miniscule chance to steal this game, because the Heat would've been getting blown out by 50 and we would've seen a whole quarter of Daryl Macon and KZ Okpala instead. Nunn may not have joined in the scoring bonanza at the end, but he was his own scoring bonanza for a huge chunk at the beginning.

Here's another deal, because one wasn't enough: Nunn almost had frickin' 40 points tonight. FORTY. Honestly, I'm disappointed that he didn't get there, because he had so much time with which to get the four points he needed. How sick would it have been for an undrafted rookie to score 40? Most undrafted rookies, you're just happy if they can be one of those low-usage do-nothing role-players that can play a few minutes without totally tanking the team whenever they're on the court. Nunn, you're apparently only happy with him when he scores 40.

What I really wanted to do for this description (and the upcoming Adebayo, and what I did do for the Robinson) was write a sort of intertwining narrative of the three of them waking up in the Hall of the Thirty Point Scorers for the first time and encountering each other and Carlos Delfino (the keeper of the Hall) and getting into all sorts of wacky misadventures. But do I have time for that? As much as I wish I did (and no, I'm not using my time machine for something so trivial), I do not. That Adebayo 30-point triple-double is waiting for me and it doesn't want to wait much longer.
