The 2021 – 2022 NBA season trade deadline will start very soon! Even though this season has been an absolutely amazing one to follow, some NBA teams definitely need to freshen things up. The Los Angeles Lakers are certainly one of those teams, with LeBron LeGM James being in charge of the majority of the team’s financial moves. This man has his eyes set on three things until he retires: passing Kareem Abdul Jabbar’s all-time scoring record; playing with his son Bronny James in the same league; and winning at least one more chip to solidify his legacy. If two of those objectives are controlled by LeBron James, the third one is impossible without a solid team.

And today, we will talk about the team of LeBron James, the Los Angeles Lakers. We will analyze what are the best and most impactful trade deadline targets there are for the Lakers. This year’s Lakers team is a media bomb that keeps on ticking. Every loss of the squad is surrounded with big headlines of LeBron James being washed or that the entire team is nothing more than a nursing home. Every Russell Westbrook lowlight is highlighted (pun intended) by the media, and this man has basically lost all of his credibility so far. Every time Anthony Davis is on the court, there are tons of tweets where the Lakers fans ask him not to do any physical activity so he doesn’t get hurt. At this point, this team gets more attention from the media than any other team in the league, and very rarely is it a positive one.
However, there is a chance for the Los Angeles Lakers to make a huge change in just a week. The trade deadline is approaching, so a team like the Lakers that has 3 superstars on their roster has an opportunity to shake things up.
Here is a list of some of the best possible trade deadline targets for the Lakers:
1) Eric Gordon. This one might be divisive. On one hand, this trade is rather a blockbuster one. Eric Gordon is a solid mid-tier player who is capable of providing the team with effective scoring and sharpshooting skills.
2) Jerami Grant. Long story short, Jerami is a good young role-player who would definitely be a positive asset for the Lakers' future.
3) Kenrich Williams. If you are not an Oklahoma City Thunder fan or an avid NBA fan, then there is a chance that you will hear this name for the first time. However, trading for Kenrich Williams might be one of the best and most realistic options for the Los Angeles Lakers this season.
4) Terrence Ross. The probable acquisition of Terrence Ross is another sleeper kind of potential deal the Lakers might make this trade season. The 30-year-old player doesn’t seem to fit with the current young core of the Orlando Magic, who have been constantly in rebuilding mode for the past decade.
5) Lou Williams. Williams will not be seen as the Lakers' top goal. Making the move back to Los Angeles is sure to pique Williams' curiosity as well.
6) Marcus Smart. Now, let’s talk about the improbable ones. Marcus Smart is one of the young stars of the Boston Celtics crew. Smart is one of those players who can both manage an offense and defend at a high level, which is something the Lakers are looking for. Los Angeles has struggled to defend this season, and bringing in Marcus Smart.
So, those six players are the biggest trade deadline targets for the Lakers right now, in my opinion.
