The Time When Wildfires were Impossible; 370 Million Years Ago

video thumbnail
There was a time in Earth's relatively recent geologic history when plants and animals roamed the planet, yet, wildfires were impossible. This was due to a lack of oxygen that occurred due to long term trends, during what is known as the "Frasnian charcoal gap". This video will discuss a potential reason why oxygen levels were so low on the planet, and indicate how this relates to the generation of charcoal.
