In this talk Bill describes the importance of crafting our communities in the image we want. He is active in the local community, and created the crowdsourcing venture known as "Davis Barn Raising" in order to bring locals together for the common good. He received his M.S.W. from Virginia Commonwealth University and M.Div from Union Theological Seminary. Since arriving at Davis Community Church, he has helped to form the Interfaith Rotating Winter Shelter and other community projects.

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
