Much is being written now about the "crisis" in the humanities. As our social, work, and intellectual lives become more programmed and assessed, and as the world transforms itself into a global marketplace, humanistic disciplines offer deep, versatile, long-term perspectives that can equip us not only to cope, but to thrive. This liberal arts college, with its symbiotic connection among science, social science, and humanities, can equip Wellesley women not only to make a difference in the world, but to know what kind of difference is worth making. |
