About 18 years ago , the first mini Laptop was created and it was 10 inch , was powered by Windows 98 and even had touch screen but costed more then the normal Laptop User would want to pay for a Laptop used by the riches of the riches in 1998 when it first came out.

This laptop was as first seen in a James Bond Film , the name you must spare me , but if you know it , please post it in the Comments so I can update this description.

SPECS for the friends
The PD1000

The Palmax PD100 is a sub notebook slightly larger than the Libretto. It's about the same size as the Sony VAIO PCG-C1 or the NEC Mobio NX.
Note : Palmax sold their notebook line to Tidal Power
For the search engines and for you surfers out there : Sometimes, the PD1000 is also sold under the names
IPC lifestyle mininote 166 (Germany)
BESTpal (Scandinavia)
FOREFRONT (UK)
Topline Mininote PD1000/PD1100 (Netherlands)
or some variation thereof. They are all the same. For more resources see the bottom of this page in the link section.

My Friend Andreas Schweitzer.
has a great article about this
laptop and he even installed Linux on it , while in the video I said that that would not be possible ..so I update that right now here, This thing can run LINUX .

This is the specs part of Andreas Article and the link under it
with bring you to his page,

There is also a more powerful version available, the PD1100 with a faster CPU and a larger hard drive. The notes given on this page should apply to the PD1100 as well.
The Seatech Stingray seems to be a (now dropped) copy of the PD1000. Therefore, this page may apply to it as well. Thanks to Christof Buergi for this.
Philipp Potocki reports
"My machine is a Seatech Stingray. Processor speed either 100 or 133 MHz, fixed disk of 1.6 GB. This is the precursor of the 166MHz/2.1GB variety; otherwise, it appears to be much the same as the more recent model.
The Stingray is apparently the same machine as the Palmax. The main difference is the label; the BIOS may or may not be the same. A chap at support@palmax.de claimed that my BIOS sported options not present on the Palmax. But then, the same chap also said that LINUX would run only on the 166MHz model, not on the 133MHz one."

My model has a 166Mhz CPU, 32MB RAM and a 2.1 GB hard drive. I didn't get the floppy drive or the CD-ROM drive. Only the docking station (as default) and a null modem cable. I may get a PCMCIA Ethernet card one day. (Which I did after everything was set up and after I've written this ... :-) It came with Win98 preinstalled.
I, of course, installed Linux on this machine. This page will give you some hints and tips if you want to do so, too. I also give the steps I performed for installing debian and stampede.

So what is it ?

It's one little sexy mini laptop , one you don't see anymore
and the touch screen was a miracle at that time , and of course the grandfather of all the touch screens we take for granted now.

What could you do with it ?
Your asking , what can you do with it ?
Well in todays world you can write a book on it , while listening to fantastic music when taking a pause , You can of course also record music , with cool edit 96 because i can confirm it works , I was doing it under Windows 95 already , even urned CD's under Windows 3.11 because at that time it was more stable then 95 and 98 , I was doing it al the time with a Dell Laptop with 100Mhz running Windows 3.11 and Easy Cd Creator for Windows 3.11..
never failures , and at 1 speed , you could make the labels and go print them and come back to remove yor Fresh Burned Music CD that sounded way better then the ones now created under 24 speed or higher..ridiculous but true , also the Cd's we burned under 1x speed , still play fine after 15 years and the ones under 24x speed or higher , failed after 3 moths already .
It has something to do with the burning , Writing
at low speeds is the best .

Even do this is Windows 98 . many things can still be done with this system if it comes to creativity , and of course you can play patience if you really bored.

This is to me and to maybe some of you , a Collectors Item
and I,m happy that I could show it to the youth that was Born
around 2000 , so they can see that we were coming up already at their age if it comes to multimedia computers (Computers that can play music and video) so I hope that this video will receive some love from he watchers.
