video thumbnail
Mr. Alex talked on how to tackled the complex interplay between human-wildlife conflict and climate change. He explored how environmental changes are influencing wildlife behavior, leading to increased conflicts with human population. The talk delved into potential strategies for coexistence and mitigating the negative impacts of these conflicts, with an emphasis on addressing climate change as a key factor. The main message conveyed by the speaker was the importance of wildlife management over wildlife conservation. Alex Ozhukayil, a quantitative market researcher with 20 years of experience, initiated the Kerala Independent Farmers Association (KIFA) in 2020. As a farmer by birth, he aims to bring qualitative changes to farmers' lives through collective action, fighting against oppressions and ensuring their survival. Passionate about countering accusations from pseudo-environmentalists, he actively engages in media, addressing farming issues and human-wildlife conflicts. Playing a catalytic role, Alex leads KIFA in community mobilization, advocating for farmers' empowerment and realizing their aspirations. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
