Bilateral Partial Knee Replacement (Debi's Story) At work Debi was on her feet all day long working for Kohl’s. She had “horrible knees.” It was obvious to her that she needed one or both knees done. Debi was sidelined from family activities because of her knees. With her mobility compromised Debi’s life changed. She hoped that with new knees she would be able to get back to living again. After all the weeds were not going to pull themselves. “Before the surgery it was hard to ride a bike and I love to ride bikes. I have always enjoyed being outdoors; I haven’t been able to garden. Whenever we did things everyone had to ‘pamper Debi.’ Everyone would have fun and I would sit.” Debi consulted with Dr. Jeffrey DeClaire who thought one knee most likely warranted a full replacement and the other a partial. They set the surgery date and Debi got to work on her pre-hab exercises. Dr. DeClaire “called an audible” in surgery based on what he saw in Debi’s knees, and performed two partial replacements on Debi, instead of one full and one partial – much to her delight. Her recovery centered around the X10 Knee Machine. A steady routine. Day in day out. Progressing each session. Observing consistent progress. The way Debi describes it in the video on this page it is poetic… almost hypnotic… Three times a day 30 minutes each day Following the movement Following the movement Take a step up Following the movement Stretch it out Feel good Take a step up Fully Recovered at Three Weeks Preoperative range of motion for Debi was 50 degrees. Within a week of X10 Therapy Debi was at 80 degrees. A week later she reached 116 degrees range of motion in both knees. At that number she has enough range to do all the things she wants to do again. Bike, garden, walk, participate. Welcome Debi to the X10-2K Club™ – joining the growing number of people who have recovered from knee replacement on two knees using the X10. In fact, Debi, you might just be the face we put on the next X10 poster… back to full strength! |
