The Minister of Primary Industries Nathan Guy will tonight remove an exemption in the Fisheries (Foreign Charter Vessels and Other Matters) Amendment Bill for iwi quota to use foreign labour. The Māori Party says it will not support the amendment to the bill saying it will force some iwi to go under and they are not ready for the changes now. But Labour supports it and says it's a sign iwi need to work together with their quota.
