Davrina Rianda (YSEALI Women’s Leadership Academy, United States, 2021) is a passionate researcher and educator on maternal and child health and nutrition, especially to support the first 1000 days of life. In 2020, she founded Lab Pintar (translation: Smart Lab) that aims to promote evidence-based decision-making among Indonesian parents for smart and healthy generations. She is an incoming Ph.D. student at the University of California, Davis with a fully funded scholarship from the Indonesia Endowment Fund for Education and is currently a researcher at the Human Nutrition Research Center, Indonesian Medical Education and Research Institute (HNRC-IMERI), Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Indonesia. Davrina has published several papers related to maternal and child nutrition in multiple journals, including the Journal of Functional Foods and Beneficial Microbes. For the past two years, she has been working as the project coordinator of a randomized controlled trial investigating the promotion of maternal gut microbiota on fetal brain and child cognitive development (BRAVE Project), which involves 300 pregnant mothers in Jakarta, Indonesia. Davrina is an alumna of the YSEALI Women’s Leadership Academy (WLA) in 2021 where she won a WLA YSEALI seed grant to establish Jaga Mama (translation: Protect Mothers) that focuses on maternal empowerment with learning resources and support networks among women in Southeast Asia. Jaga Mama has published an e-book for the mothers and maintained over 200 mothers from various countries in the support group. Davrina received her bachelor’s degree in medicine, medical doctor, and master’s degree in nutrition from Universitas Indonesia.
