Solskjaer: 'Maguire won't play again in the league this season' | Liverpool vs Manchester Utd | EPL |
|
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has ruled captain Harry Maguire out of the club's remaining Premier League fixtures after he damaged ligaments in his ankle during the 3-1 win over Aston Villa.
Solskjaer said that he was hopeful that Maguire could return for the Europa League final against Villarreal in two weeks. Manchester United face a tough and congested fixture list, after losing 2-1 to Leicester City on 11th May, they now face rivals Liverpool FC on 13th May. 1. 00:12 - 00:40 SOUNDBITE (English): Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, Manchester United manager (on Harry Maguire): "The good news was it wasn't broken. There was no fracture. But a ligament injury of course is serious as well. If I am very positive - that's maybe stretching it...I am hopeful he might be ready for it (Europa League final). I don't think he'll play in the league again but we'll do everything we can to get him ready for the (Europa League) final." 2. 01:31 - 01:55 SOUNDBITE (English): Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, Manchester United manager (on facing Liverpool): "There'll be changed. But many of the players that played tonight did really well so they are in contention as well. It's about managing the squad now, building momentum, building confidence. Making sure we get enough points to get second and going into the (Europa League) final confident." 3. 02:17 - 03:03 SOUNDBITE (English): Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, Manchester United manager (on Edinson Cavani new contract): "Well, I think we've seen the last few months what we can expect and what we've wanted from him. Next season he'll come ready. He'll be fit when he comes (for) preseason. This year he had seven months of non-football (playing) to catch up on and that's not easy and he had a couple of niggles because of that. Just the same professionality. He comes in every day and does everything right. The boys look at him. He gives us a number nine position. I don't know how many games we'll get out of him (next season). But he's one of the best number nines in the world at the moment." #ManUtd #ManchesterUnited #EPL #PremierLeague #OleGunnarSolskjaer SOURCE: Premier League Productions Visit the WeShow Football store: https://www.youtube.com/weshowfootball/store #WeShowFootball features previews, reactions and behind-the-scenes footage from Europe's elite football competitions.
