• About Asia Young Designer Awards •
The Asia Young Designer Awards is part of Nippon Paint’s inclusive business project with the area of focus and empowerment to groom budding architects and interior designers across Asia. AYDA aims to become an active advocate in the cultivation of talents for a better future.

Every year, student participants go through a rigorous selection process to present the most creative and innovative ideas at the national level. The winners of each country will represent their nations for the grand title of Asia Young Designer at the international level mentored by a panel of reputable industry professionals, both at national as well as regional level.

The program was founded in 2008, and its reach has grown exponentially since. To date, AYDA has received more than 25,000 entries from over 900 tertiary education institutions across 15 different geographical locations in Asia.

Nippon Paint, the world’s leading paint and coatings brand, has also set up the Gennosuke Obata Fellowship Fund, together with the prestigious Harvard University’s Graduate School of Design (Harvard GSD). The Fund will provide young Asian design talents financial assistance, with an opportunity to attend and experience education at Harvard GSD. From the fellowship, Nippon Paint is connected to Harvard GSD’s alumni around the world to allow for more collaboration between Harvard GSD and AYDA.

The Asia Young Designer of the Year will be able to experience Harvard University’s Graduate School of Design’s ‘Design Discovery Program’ for 6 weeks upon acceptance from Harvard GSD.
