Stage 4 Cancer Vlog: How to Help a Cancer Patient's Partner |
|
My name is Mike Linn, and I make cancer vlogs in order to help myself with my mental heatlh, but also to get information out that can be of use to cancer patients and their loved ones.
I'm a stage 4 metastatic melanoma patient, and I believe that discussions about cancer are too clinical, sterile, or don't address the true human experience that cancer patients go through. My goal is to change that and to take cancer awareness to a better place. Today, I talk about how difficult it is to be in a relationship with a cancer patient, and how we can help significant others who are dealing with this miserable situation. These ways include: 1. Having meaningful and non-superficial conversations with them. 2. Encouraging them to see a therapist if they haven't yet. 3. Help them by planning social activities they might not have the energy to. Cancer affects far more people than the patient, and we need to throw a life vest to those who care most about them. Please like this video, subscribe, and share it with someone you think could benefit from the information. Together, we can make stupid cancer a little less daunting. |
