WOW: Hyundai set to kill off i20 N, i30 N and Kona N & keep Elantra N as the only non-EV N model |
|
Big news out of Hyundai N Division this week as the company reveals that tough new European emissions laws will force it to kill off popular models.
A final decision has not been 100% reached, but Hyundai N executive technical advisor Albert Biermann and N brand Vice President Till Wartenberg have told Chasing Cars that the new Euro 7 emissions laws mean the company will likely: * Discontinue the i20 N, i30 N and Kona N models as European volume is necessary for their success * Retain the i30 Sedan N (Elantra N) and give it a new generation because it is based around American sales * Australia will receive the new i30 Sedan N * Work will be done to bring the i20 N and i30 N back as electric hot hatches in future * Until that point, Hyundai N will focus on its premium EVs (Ioniq 5 N and Ioniq 6 N) What are your thoughts?
