|
Even though we humans have a saying about not judging a book by its cover, we sure do that a lot. Especially when it comes to animals. Animals look, um, different than human beings, oftentimes slightly on the scary side. But just because animals have a “threatening” exterior, doesn’t mean they’re always going to attack every single human they see. From an animal that scares people regardless of its small stature, and those that slither around in our nightmares, to one that pretty much everyone in the world is scared of, here are 10 of the scariest animals that are actually friendly!

Mostly because of the way they look. These creatures are thought to be these mindless rodents that will go after anyone and eat them. That paired with the fact that these are such advanced animals that they can literally move each of their teeth independently according to what they need to eat just adds to the scary factor here. But in reality, they’re not these mindless, heartless creatures that just want to hunt for food, they’re actually quite smart too! They’re pretty much blind, so they rely on their sense of smell to figure out if someone is a friend or a foe, and well, they can do that pretty well! Their level of intelligence also grows as they age, and since each of their lives is around 30 years old, you could even encounter one that’s older and wiser than you! This is usually why when one of these meets a human, they either just keep doing their thing, or might even be interested enough to come to check them out! The ones that do come close to checking you out, might even stop over for a pet or too if you’re not displaying signs of being threatening. So how friendly the naked mole-rat would be to you, depends on how you react to seeing one! Tarantulas You know fear is common when it literally has a dedicated phobia. Yup, we’re talking about Arachnophobia - the fear of spiders. 3 - 6% of the entire world has arachnophobia! And even those that don’t, don’t usually like to hang out around spiders. The “face” of arachnophobia is pretty much universally Tarantulas. Look at them! They’re pretty massive for being a spider, have so much fluff, and crawl all over you like they’re trying to find the perfect spot to attack! And well, that could be the case because tarantulas can be poisonous and will sting if they feel threatened, or if you look like a snack. However, the tarantulas we usually encounter that are pets, are far from the scary image we have in our heads. Even if they look the same as the others, pet tarantulas are usually very friendly and not poisonous! They might still want to crawl all over you and give you the hobbies jobbies, but they’re just trying to explore and figure out what you are in a totally friendly way, and not in an “I’m going to kill you” way possible!
