The Early Life of Alexander the Great |
|
This production will focus on the early Life of Alexander the Great as he passed through childhood. Greatly influenced by his father Philip II of Macedon and his mother Olympias of Epirus. Alexander showed early promise as well as a strong will that would define his adult life. Tutored by Aristotle himself Alexander made lifelong friends amongst his fellow students including Hephaestion and Ptolemy who would go on to become pharaoh of Egypt. Perhaps his best known friend however was not human, but his beloved horse Bucephalus who accompanied him all the way to India. As Alexander grew up he accompanied his father on military campaigns most famously at the Battle of Chaeronea where he defeated the legendary Sacred Bank. At the age of twenty Alexander's early life came to an end when his father Philip was assassinated. This left Alexander as the heir to the Macedonian throne and he would go on to secure his position and write his name in history.
