Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who has been in power for 20 years, votes in Istanbul during the presidential elections. A former mayor of Istanbul (1994-1998), Erdogan rose to power in 2003 after the Justice and Development Party (AKP, Islamo-conservative) he founded won the elections the previous year.
