Thyroid Eye Disease can be a distressing effect of hyperthyroidism that changes the way the eyes look and sometimes how they function. Fortunately there are newly developed treatments that have the potential to change the course of the disease. Dr. Kossler discusses the causes and the treatments available for Thyroid Eye Disease.

Andrea Lora Kossler, MD, is Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology at Stanford University School of Medicine and Director of the Ophthalmic Plastic, Reconstructive Surgery and Orbital Oncology Service at the Byers Eye Institute at Stanford. Dr. Kossler is the Co-Director of Stanford’s Thyroid Eye Disease Center where she works together with a multidisciplinary team including an endocrinologist and radiation oncologist to provide patient centered care to those diagnosed with thyroid eye disease. She is also the Director of the Stanford Aesthetic Eye Surgery Center where she specializes in cosmetic surgery and aesthetic treatments of the eyelids and face.
