Pablo Neruda, full name Ricardo Eliécer Neftalí Reyes Basoalto, was born in 1904 in Parral, Chile. He proactively fought against facism in his homecountry, as well as in Spain and received the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1971.
He is often described as the most important Latin American poet of the 20th century.
