On March 31, 2019, Eric Holder shot and killed beloved west-coast rap legend Ermias Asghedom, better known to the world as Nipsey Hussle. Eric Holder is currently on trial for first degree murder charges. The judge in Eric Holder's case is only allowing video cameras to record the opening statements and closing arguments. Therefore, the testimony and evidence presentation will not be televised. Based on the defense opening statement, they are claiming that Nipsey's suggestion that Holder may have been snitching sent Holder into a rage, and that he killed Nipsey in the heat of passion. This is the basis for their argument which will be that Holder should be found guilty of voluntary manslaughter instead of first-degree murder. Voluntary manslaughter carries a maximum sentence of only 11 years in prison, whereas first-degree murder is 25 to life. So you can see why the defense would be seeking voluntary manslaughter. However, this defense has little to no chance at being successful. San Diego Criminal Defense Attorney Jamahl C. Kersey explains why in this video. |
