Tomoe Gozen was a legendary female samurai who lived in Japan during the late 12th century. She was born into a samurai family and was trained in martial arts from a young age. Her skill in combat was unparalleled, and she quickly rose through the ranks to become a highly respected warrior.

Tomoe Gozen's most famous battle was the Battle of Awazu, which took place in 1184. At the time, Japan was in the midst of a civil war known as the Genpei War, which pitted two powerful clans, the Taira and the Minamoto, against each other for control of the country.

Tomoe Gozen fought for the Minamoto clan, alongside her husband, Minamoto no Yoshinaka. On the day of the battle, Tomoe Gozen rode into battle on horseback, armed with a bow and arrows, a sword, and a naginata, a type of Japanese polearm.
