Both Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and the Delhi Capitals (DC) got off to winning starts in this edition’s Indian Premier League (IPL) and hence would be high on confidence. The teams are now scheduled to lock horns in tomorrow’s contest at the Feroz Shah Kotla in New Delhi. Last year, the Delhi franchise defeated the Super Kings at the venue, though the hosts are trailing 2-4 against them at the ground.
However, the win came at a time when the fates of both teams in the tournament were decided and the game situation won’t be the same and therefore CSK are expected to come out firing on all cylinders. The CSK-batting would also want to get a good hit in the middle after straining on a difficult wicket in the opening game. Meanwhile, Delhi’s home crowd would want the DC to register a victory.
The track at the Kotla was an absolute belter in the previous edition and it’s expected to be pretty similar this time around as well. However, it may favour the team batting second and hence, teams may opt to field first after winning the toss. The temperature won’t be daunting and would hover around the 23-degree mark.
Shikhar Dhawan and Prithvi Shaw are the opening batsmen with Shreyas Iyer at number three. The team would be hoping for another resounding show from Colin Ingram and Rishabh Pant. Keemo Paul and Axar Patel are the all-rounders. The Capitals are likely to go with the pace trio of Ishant Sharma, Kagiso Rabada and Trent Boult. Amit Mishra is likely to come in place of Rahul Tewatai.

The defending champions may give Faf du Plessis an opportunity in place of Shardul Thakur, who didn’t bowl a single over against RCB. Shane Watson would want to make amends after getting a 10-ball duck. Bravo, Jadeja and Jadhav are other batsmen. All three may also be required to roll their arms over. Imran Tahir and Harbhajan Singh will shoulder the spin department for MS Dhoni and Co.
