Patrick is a lecturer at London College of Fashion and an associate lecturer at Goldsmiths University. He's published papers on topics from Facebook psychology to facial expressions (if you are a LOLcats&dogs fan, now you can understand why cute sells, thanks to his book “#Hooked: Why Cute Sells, and Other Marketing Magic We Just Can’t Resist”). He has helped brands and institutions understand and influence audiences’ behaviours for over ten years, and is currently Chief Science Officer at behavioural science agency Capuchin.

In his talk, Patrick will unveil the unconscious story behind our clothes, as well as other offline and online cues, and maybe change our style forever (you will tell us). Patrick will spend the first half of his talk demonstrating the unprecedented power of data, like clothing choices, to understand people’s behaviour, but most importantly, spend the other half advocating the great responsibilities that come with it. As the former Lead Psychologist (contractor) for Cambridge Analytica in the last 8 months of the company’s existence, Patrick is more mindful than ever that with “great power comes great responsibility”, and is willing to share his experience to give us some keys to ensure that as a data-powered company, we always act with responsibility and respect.
