*** Follow us on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/ReadingThroughHistory/ **** Follow us on Twitter: https://twitter.com/bigmarshdawg77 **** This video includes: -How China became a communist nation since 1949 -The start of the Chinese Civil War in 1927 -The forces of the Chinese Nationalist Party fighting against the Red Army of the Chinese Communist Party -Chiang Kai-Shek serves as the leader of the Nationalists -Mao Tse Tung as the leader of the Red Army -Mao Tse Tung's Long March -Mao turns the tide of the Chinese Civil War -The Red Army evades Chiang Kai-Shek's forces for 370 days by traveling more than 8,000 miles -His leadership during the Long March established Mao as the commander of the communist forces -In 1937, the Chinese Civil War is put on hold when Japan invades China -The Chinese Nationalists and the Red Army join forces with the intent of driving out the Japanese -China fights Japan in the Second Sino-Japanese War -The Sino-Japanese conflict escalates into WWII -The war lasts for eight years and the Allied Nations (the United States, Great Britain, etc.) assist the Chinese in defeating Japan -The Chinese Civil War resumes with the end of WWII -The fighting continues for another four years, with the Red Army of Mao Tse Tung eventually defeating Chiang Kai-Shek’s Chinese Nationalists -The Chinese Nationalists flee and establish the island nation of Taiwan (which, to this day, is officially known as the Republic of China) -China is taken over by the Red Army, with Mao Tse Tung becoming the Chairman of the Communist Party -The nation of China is renamed The People’s Republic of China and it officially becames a communist nation -The People's Republic of China still claims ownership over the island of Taiwan, while The Republic of China (Taiwan) claims to be the legitimate government of mainland China |
