Why volunteer? | Enkhee Sainbuyan & Stepanka Pechackova | TEDxBagaToiruu

video thumbnail
Armed with only physical and moral resources, you can give happiness not just to thousands, but also to yourself. Enkhee and Stepanka share their volunteering experiences and how one can become a person he or she had never dreamt would be.

Enkhee is a mother of three. Growing up in a socialist society, her childhood was as everyone else's, singing songs that encouraged children to respect and help those in need. She started volunteering for the "Heart and Soul" charity, while she was working for J Sainsbury plc in the UK. Also, she worked for Mongolian Red Cross Society and and served as a national UNVolunteer.

Born and raised in a small Czech town, Stepanka had known nothing about volunteerism until she entered a university. When her mother took her for the first time to India, Stepanka realized she really wants to devote her time and skills to other people. Since then her volunteering experience got Stepanka from the Czech Republic to India, Bangladesh and finally to Mongolia. Currently, she is supporting United Nations Volunteers Mongolia as UN Youth Volunteer.

This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at http://ted.com/tedx
