Don't you just love it when visits to lesser known places turn out to be a great experience? Although we are no history buffs, the armory museum at Les Invalides is a great place to educate yourself about important wars throughout our history. The golden dome, a landmark on the Paris skyline, is like a beacon calling you to go explore. It is even more intriging knowing that it is also the burial place of Napolean - France's first emperor and one of the world's greatest military leaders. His tomb is nothing short of impressive.

Taking a river boat ride is a great way to see Paris from a different perspective. There are several operators offering different experiences, we chose a hop on / hop off boat which allowed us to stop at the main attractions including the Notre Dame. Although it was sadly still closed for repairs after the tragic fire, you can still explore the surroundings or simply find a spot in the piazza in front of the dame and enjoy a crepe :)
