The Volcano in Oregon; Hole in the Ground |
|
Within Oregon is a giant 5300 foot wide crater called "Hole in the Ground". However, despite common belief, this crater was not formed by an asteroid impact. Rather, it is completely volcanic in origin, and represents the remnants of an ancient explosive eruption. This feature is part of a larger volcanic complex, called the Fort Rock Volcanic Field. As such, it may only be a matter of time before this volcanic field erupts again. This video will discuss this volcano, and mention what its future hazards are.
