The Understanding of Disability and the Disability of Understanding | Kalyani Khona | TEDxGateway |
|
Kalyani Khona talks about how the notion that, people with a disability should only date or marry people with disabilities, which in turn leads to social exclusion and stigma due to the lack of access and equal opportunities when it comes to finding love. She is an advocate for inclusion in matchmaking and works to find solutions to optimise existing services.
Kalyani is the co-founder of Inclov, the world's first matchmaking app for people with disability and health disorders to find love. Inclov is accessible to people with visual impairment and cerebral palsy amongst others. The app matches people on the basis of cure availability, medical condition, level of independence and lifestyle choices. Today, Inclov has 2000 matches and Kalyani has demonstrated early success with two Inclov users getting married in May 2016. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at http://ted.com/tedx |
