With her eye opening speech Ms Anica Mann made us see history through an interesting perspective. She made us see a glimpse of the rich Indian culture and heritage which is lost in the pages of textbooks. As a student she loved learning about how the geographical parameters impact the traditions of a civilization. She talked about the Chola dynasty which originated in the southern parts of India presently know as Tamil Nadu. Also about the Arya dynasty, The Indo-Aryans were part of an expansion into the Indus Valley and Ganges Plain from 1800-1500 BCE, whose literature, religion, and modes of social organization subsequently shaped the course of Indian culture. Despite having a plethora of beautifully diverse cultures and history, majority of educational institutes of India still priorities the western history. Saraswati river which was one of the most crucial rivers in the past, may have ceased to exist, but its tributaries still remain in the states of Uttarakhand. Ms Anica Mann through her speech tried to convey us, history can be made fun only if try to find it.
Ms. Anica Mann has led a project under the Archaeological Survey of India, which aims to build public infrastructure in five iconic archaeological sites across India. Apart from this, she is the Director of the Citizen Archaeological Foundation, the Chairman, and a Board Member of the Mann Technical Educational Society in Sonipat, Haryana. In addition, she curated the India Art Fair Young Collector Programme in 2022 and 2023. Her research work at Kyoto University in Japan was focused on Esoteric Buddhist temples of the 10th to 12th centuries in the Kansai Area. She completed her Master of Philosophy (MPhil) in Sanskrit and Classical Indian Languages, Literature, and Linguistics at the University of Oxford in England.
