Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan made a reference to Kashmir in his address to the UN General Assembly. Hours after Erdogan’s speech, EAM Jaishankar emphasised the need to adhere to the relevant UN resolutions on Cyprus. Jaishankar’s remarks came after he held a meeting with his Cyprus counterpart Nikos Christodoulides on the sidelines of UNGA. Turkey has been raising the Kashmir issue since New Delhi revoked J&K’s special status in August 2019.
